Important Details
Proper location for the Fire-Retardant Distribution Unit is extremely important. Improperly placing units around the property could render the units ineffective. Generally, you will want to place your Unit/Units on the upwind side of your structure or structures. The Units should be placed away from the structure just outside the border of well-maintained vegetation and level on the ground. The minimum spacing between FRD Units is recommended to be no greater than 55 feet.
Note* spacing the FRD Units any further than the 55 feet could cause saturation to become thin and will allow a break in your protective barier causing the fire to break through.
The power supply system needed for the FRD Units come from the home or business power supply, generator or a Solar Panel system that allows the home or business to operate the FRD Units “off of the grid”. Installing a sub-panel with proper power ratings or connecting the sub-panel to the main panel located on the property using properly installed underground conduits.
Connection to a Solar Panel system you will need to verify that the system is properly charging the batteries and properly installing underground conduit to each FRD location. One circuit can power up to 5 FRD units, but only one FRD can be initiated at a time. Spacing out the initiation of each FRD by 3 or more minutes is required. Properly installing a duplex waterproof plug with a GFI switch at each FRD location at a height greater than 24 inches above the ground to allow for the extension cord to the Smart Plug to be plugged in.
Caution* The FRD Units require a minimum of a 15 Amp circuit for each pump. The installation of the power supply system is STRONGLY reccommended to be performed by a licensed and qualified electrician that is familiar with local codes. An improperly installed power supply system can potentially lead to injury or death.
